Core is acting as Project Manager on the Burnaby Transit Centre (BTC) project, which is currently being master planned for future redevelopment. Earlier studies determined that various functions can be located elsewhere in the lower mainland as they are not tied to Burnaby or to the adjacent CMBC functions.
This project requires a complex multi-phased approach to enable the transition of most of the Facilities Maintenance and Stores to a new location in Richmond, renovations in BTCS, and finally the demolition of the existing BTCN facility to make way for additional bus parking. The provision of additional maintenance functions is currently on hold for this project. The conclusion will result in the freeing up of the site north of Kitchener Street, which will enable additional bus parking in the short term and the space required to commence phased construction of the larger site master plan.
